Ona Frank was born into a loving Jewish family in Germany. However, when the Second World War broke out, she and her family were forced to hide in a secret hiding place in Amsterdam. Here Ona wrote her well-known diary in which she described with great literary talent and with a touching self-awareness her life of freedom. Despite the suffering she knew about her flesh, she clung to her faith in the good nature of man and dreamed of becoming a writer. She did not get to fulfill her dream, but after the war her diary was one of the most important books of the 20th century, and millions of readers embraced it.
