Luisa Fuga, known as Pfesfonat, is a member of a rich family. But at night, instead of going to sleep, she accompanies her nanny and goes out to collect alms. She does this without her parents' knowledge, and the money she earns she gives to the nanny who is supposed to look after her. Anton also goes out to the city every evening to collect alms. He has a poor and sick mother and problems at school, and he works very hard. Pzafonat and Anton are best friends, as only children know how to be. But why does the nanny need the money, and what is her boyfriend, Robert the Devil, planning to do? And who is waiting for him with a rolling pin behind the door, what happens when the party arrives, and what makes Anton and Pfesfona burst out laughing? All this and more in the wonderful book written by Erich Kastner many years ago, which is now being reworked in a comic book version.
