Don Miguel Ruiz was born into a family of healers and was raised in rural Mexico by a mother who was a curandera (healer) and a grandfather who was a naguel (shaman). The family expected Miguel to embrace the centuries-old family heritage of healing and healing and see, and pass on the Toltec esoteric knowledge.
Instead, under the influence of modern life, Miguel chose to attend medical school and become a surgeon. A car accident changed his life. Late one night in late 1970, he suddenly woke up after falling asleep at the wheel while driving. At that moment, the car crashed into a concrete wall at high speed. Don Miguel remembers being out of his physical body when he pulled his two friends to safety.
Shocked by the experience, he began intense self-examination. He devoted himself to acquiring proficiency in the ancient wisdom of the ancestors, studying with a powerful shaman in the Mexican desert. His grandfather, who had already passed away, continued to teach him in his dreams.
According to the Toltec tradition, the Naguel guides man towards personal freedom. Don Miguel Ruiz is a Naguel of the Eagle Knight dynasty, and dedicates his life to sharing the knowledge he has acquired about the teachings of the ancient Toltecs.
